Where does the flight data come from?
Flight data is sourced from ADS-B signals — a real-time aircraft tracking system that broadcasts position, altitude, and identification data. We ingest and process this continuously to detect completed private jet flights.
Can I cite Carbon Sky Index data in a report or article?
Yes. We recommend citing Carbon Sky Index alongside our Methodology page, which documents data sources, calculation approach, and known limitations. All figures should be described as modelled estimates.
What aircraft are tracked?
We track private jets identified via ICAO aircraft type designators cross-referenced against ADS-B registrations. The current database covers 22,500 aircraft
How accurate is the emissions data?
Our emissions figures are modelled estimates based on ADS-B flight detection and per-aircraft fuel burn rates, using an ICAO-aligned LTO and cruise methodology. They are designed to be directionally accurate and methodologically defensible — not precise measurements of actual fuel burn. Known limitations including straight-line distance approximation and standardised LTO cycle values are documented in full on our Methodology page.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes will be reflected in your next billing cycle.
